Hi my name is Amy Sekol. I have been an educator in the public school and community since 2008. Over the years, I have taught general music, band, strings and chorus to elementary students. Additionally, I am a Zumba instructor. I am also a choreographer, make-up artist and front house manager at Reaper's Revenge. I love getting involved in several community activities and enjoy to continue to educate myself whenever possible.
I graduated from Wilkes University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and was an active musician in the University's community concert band several years after. My post graduate certification for Orff in elementary music is from Villanova University/University of the Arts. I received my Zumba licenses in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania from 2009 to present. My passion for music and teaching was awarded NEIU's Arts in Education Teacher of the year award in 2013.
I absolutely love sharing my passion of music with our students. Watching them grow independently as musicians over their time with me in elementary school is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I firmly believe in getting your hands dirty with music. I love to encourage people to have a good time and enjoy life. My goal is to make sure your child smiles, laughs, and enjoys their time with me in music classes here at the Plaza.
